MISSIONS
Letter to Hoffmantown from Missions Council – LifeQuest
LifeQuest is a non-profit that provides critical support services to help at-risk and adjudicated youth to overcome the challenges of their past and build a resilience for the future. LifeQuest is committed to providing mentoring relationships to NM youth as an extension of the Body of Christ. A LifeQuest guiding principle is dependence upon God for volunteers (time) and funding (treasure).
Hoffmantown, you are the Body of Christ and have been a faithful supporter of LifeQuest’s direct engagement in the Juvenile Justice System for Bible study, tutoring, church services, Life Skills Classes, the 4:13 Journey, and mentoring. The 4:13 Journey (Philippians 4:13) uses the spirit of adventure and the challenge of the great outdoors as a catalyst to help them develop strong character to reach their highest potential. Over the last 2.5 years, 92 students have participated in 4:13 and students are signing up to for this fall semester.
Hoffmantown provided a financial gift to LifeQuest last year to support their 4:13 Journey and your Missions Council just approved a $10K gift to support four students this year. Hoffmantown is now providing meeting space for the 4:13 program which avoids the previous venue cost. And the Hoffmantown van has also been made available to LifeQuest for their 4:13 Grand Canyon trips.
When asked what is your most pressing need, their response was volunteer time. Hoffmantown members have previously volunteered to lead Bible Studies at the State Juvenile Facilities. Bob Whittaker and Wil Martin have been volunteers in the past and they need more Bobs and Wils. Recently, the Treatment Center asked LifeQuest to restart the Bible Study that was paused for COVID. Great!
LifeQuest needs dedicated volunteers to lead this Bible study and LifeQuest provides the necessary training. Please prayerfully consider volunteering for this opportunity to make an eternal impact. Contact missions@hoffmantown.org for more information and to get connected with Esther Taylor for volunteering.
Shine School Supply Drive
The Mission Council is excited to provide 20 backpacks for kindergarten and 1st graders this school year at Arroyo del Oso. We need your help providing school supplies for these backpacks! Items we’re asking for include washable markers, coloring pencils, beginner pencils (that are fatter than usual are helpful for the kinder/first students), dry erase markers, watercolor paint boxes, crayons, a pencil pouch or box, one or two plastic pocket folders, a composition notebook (wide-ruled) and glue sticks. There will be a box at the reception desk to place your items. The deadline for this is Sunday, July 16th.
