Hiatus in operation of the HC HIS Store
Whether it is a casualty from the pandemic, shifting demographics, or just a ministry that has run the course God intended for it, church leadership have approved a hiatus be taken with regard to operation of the Hoffmantown Church food bank, HIS Store. The volume supported at the church’s food pantry has fallen to a trickle of folks coming to ask for food. For the three years before pandemic the food pantry averaged 18-22 visitors per month. Since the pandemic, the demand has dropped to less than 3 visitors per month, many months with zero visitors. We had a five week stretch in 2022 with no visitors, and there are no signs of volume picking up post pandemic.

Therefore, we are taking a hiatus in service through the HIS Store. We will monitor things over the next few months to evaluate if the food pantry needs to be restarted or not. During this hiatus time-frame, we will continue to support people in food crisis looking for support through the Pastor-on-Call and Benevolence programs.

We thank the many of you who have faithfully brought food to stock the HIS Store shelves over the past decade. Your generosity has provided much needed food assistance to many. Nearly 400 different family groups have been assisted in this manner during the operating time of our food bank. Pray that the Lord continue to guide and direct the future direction of this ministry.
