David Cauwels, Elder (Missions)

Dave and his wife, Charlotte, have been members of Hoffmantown Church for 46 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. Dave is founder and retired chairman of Cauwels and Associates, a development company in New Mexico, and president of H.A. Simson Associates, a Colorado-based development company. Dave is a graduate of Houghton College and earned a Master’s degree from Denver Seminary. He has a heart for missions and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Navigators, Prison Fellowship Ministry, and has served on the boards of Christianity Today and World Wide Pictures. Dave and Charlotte both have teaching and discipling ministries.

David McKinney, Elder (Pastoral Ministry)

David and his wife, Tess, have been married for 46 years. They have two daughters and four grandchildren. They have been members of Hoffmantown Church for 27 years. David accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in June 1982. He has been a connection class group leader, a trainer and teacher of Christian Witness Training (CWT), Chairman of the Deacons, an usher, greeter, and actively involved with the Response Room and Pastoral Ministries. He is also actively involved with the Winston Country Church in the ranching community of Southwestern New Mexico. David is a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Tucson Medical Center.

Bill Hooten, Elder (Finance & Adults Ministry)

Graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 1958. Married Phyllis Sims from Carlisle, Arkansas and UCA graduate in 1958.
Moved to New Mexico in 1961 to start in the real estate business. Formed Hooten-Stahl, Realtors in 1967 and became the 55th largest real estate company, which was sold in 2001 to Coldwell Banker. Started Charter Building and Development in 1970 and developed many subdivisions and was one of the top 10 builders in Albuquerque for many years and sold Charter in May, 2007.
Phyllis and I joined Hoffmantown Church in 1978 and we were involved in the development of our present location of the church. Taught the high school seniors of Hoffmantown for approximately 7 years. Presently teach an adult connection class.

Jim Smith, Elder (Childrens' & Students' Ministries)

Jim started coming to Hoffmantown in 1984 at the "old" location. Jim accepted Christ at an early age but finally gave his life to Him in 1972 at a small local church where he eventually served as an elder. Returning to Hoffmantown in 1992, Jim has taught an adult connection class since returning and served in many ministries. Married to Vicki for 40 years, they have a son (Scott) who Is married (Rachel) with two children (Morgan and Roman) and a daughter (Heidi) who is married (Brett) with two children (Hailey and Aubrey). Scott and Rachel are in England (Scott is an Air Force pilot) and Heidi and Brett are here in Albuquerque (both are members at Hoffmantown). Jim works at Sandia National Laboratories and is an avid golfer.

Wayne Barber, Senior Pastor

Dr. Wayne A. Barber was born in Roanoke, VA. He played basketball in high school and college, and rightly so, since he stands 6’7” tall. He pastored his first church in Switzer, KY in 1978, and moved toLexington, MS in the spring of 1979. In 1981, God called him to Chattanooga, TN to pastor the congregation of Woodland Park Baptist Church for the next 18 years. While in Chattanooga, Wayne was co-teacher with Kay Arthur for 14 years with Precept Ministries. He was also co-host of New Testament Light, a radio-television ministry, with Dr. Spiros Zodhiates, one of the world’s leading Greek scholars. Wayne has taught the message of grace around the world. He is founder and president of Living Grace Ministries, and has been Senior Pastor at Hoffmantown since March 2002. He has authored two books: The Rest of Grace and Living Grace: Letting Jesus be Jesus in You and is co-author of the Following God series published by AMG International. Wayne and his wife, Diana, have been married since 1969. Their daughter, Stephanie, and her husband, Erik, have two children, Hollen and Jonathan. Their son, Steven, and his wife, Ann, have three children, Ellie, Luke and Andrew.
